You and Kate head east out of the city but it gets dark quickly and you have to camp. As you are setting up camp Kate mentions something, "Not to question your judgement or anything, but it is not all that expensive to rent bikes, and that would cut the length of our trip in like a third. I don't mind taking the longer route, but its likely our mission is a bit time sensitive."

Mike gives a hearty chuckle, "I did not know that, Kate, tomorrow we will head back west and rent some bikes to head north of the Cycling Path."

The two of you set up a camp site and sleep reasonably well that night. When you wake up the next morning you make fairly quick progress back into town and then west out of town again to the beginning of cycling rode. The guy renting bikes says he will rent them out for 50 pyen per day if the use of the bike is contained within cycling road, and 200 per day if the bike is to be taken out of cycling road. Assuming this seems reasonable to you, both Kate and you head north along the route. The entire way north is up hill so its slow going and a bit painful, as you have not ridden a bike for a long time and the muscles are sore. Still, pain aside the trip is going reasonably well for a while, until a trio of thug-looking folks on bicycles approaches you in a menacing manor. "You folks looking to join with the Bike Gang? Or are you folks Motor Gang members?"

" I don't believe that we're interested in either, eh, Kate?" Mike smiles a peaceful smile before adding, "WE're heading to Celadon. If you wouldn't mind, could you point us in that direction?"

#The pincer and the scyther climbed over the wall onto the route and are following you guys at a distance, trying to avoid getting spotted by other bicyclists so that they don't have to have people trying to capture them and such.
The cyclists get ugly grins on their faces, and one puts his hand on your shoulder, while another moves to do the same with Kate. "I don't think you quite understand bub. We're asking if you want to help us beat up the Motor gang or if you want to get beat yourself?"

Mike brushes the cyclists hand away with a smug look on his face, "Oh, I understand fine, bub, but I think it would be more beneficial for you to back off and mosey on home to what ever tricycle shop you came from." Mike puts his hand on Bolet's Pokéball, ready to release her.

Kate tosses a dagger at one of the thugs and then the Rattata tackles her Venonat. The venonat responds with a supersonic attack, that confuses the rattata.

Your attack, combined with the Kates has really brough the one thug close to the edge. One more hit looks like enough to take him down. The two koffing use tackle on Kate. Mike hops back to avoid the attack from the Thug. He fires off a mist of silk, from his palms, at both of the Thugs.

Bolet is kicked by the cyclist, but takes minimal damage. After the Thugs make their asssault, she turns to the Thug that wasn't Spore-d and launches a seed at him. In the air the seed explodes into vampiric vines.

Two more koffing tackles aimed at kate. She dodges one, but the other criticals and she goes down. The thug that remains up tries to hit you with some sort of martial arts move. All of the attacks together are enough to take down the last thug. With their trainers taken out, the pokemon seem content to be done with the battle as long as you leave their trainers alone. Pincer and Scyther arrive just as the fight comes to an end.
