After Thompson crossed, he made sure that Armo made it safely as well as well as his pokemon companions. Once they were all across, he began to make progress through the cave once more.

Armo stumbles a bit at the edge of the land, but trips on fish-flesh over to safety!
"Hah... enough excitement for one day, yes? Let us find way out of cave, much quickly!"

The two of you continue to navigate your way through the cave, searching for the exit. The cave system is extremely large and you spend several hours searching and wandering. You avoid many a zubat swarm, and eventually see something that looks like light at the end of the caves. Just as you pass by the last branch before what seems to be an exit, you both spot a bit of movement down the other path and a pink colored creature moving out of sight.

Thompson noticed the pink puff and raised an eyebrow before sighing. He really just wanted to rest up and heal for a while before trying to come back to the cave and find a thunderstone and a water pokemon maybe to round out his team a little more.

The two of you ignore the pink creature and head towards the entrance. After only a few more minutes, you make it to the bright light, which appears to actually be the other side. You step outside, and after a short walk can see over the edge of a hill to the town of Cerulean City. The city is beautiful, with long thin houses, all painted various shades of blue and blue-green. You can also see a river running around the north edge of town and an enormous hedge maze north of the river. The familiar sight of a pokemon center is also visible, along with the large bright blue colored Cerulean Gym.

Seeing the city in the distance after leaving the cave, Thompson began to walk towards the city. "I say we get some rest first...then try to find a thunderstone...even if that means going back into the cave."

Armo nods in agreement. "Yes, but you also want Water Pokemon, yes? Perhaps we can find something for you in river come tomorrow!"
As they approach the center to call it a night, Armo lets no time go to waste. Training time!
Kakuna and both Nidoran are trained for three hours, receiving 7 experience each. Kakuna spends a Tutor Point and gains the Advanced Connection edge for String Shot.

The two of you train your pokemon and then get some rest at the center. You wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to go.

Armo stands outside the Center, Croagunk at his feet. "Maybe we find some grass Pokemon to train up with, yes?"
He also runs to the mart, picking up a few necessities. Two Poke Balls (500) and two Bandages (600)!
The musician asks Thompson: "I feel adventurous today! We can find thunderstones, go training, find you a water Pokemon? Up to you, friend!"
(Did we gain any Trainer EXP from recent exploits?)

Thompson woke up and headed to the mart to pick up two bandages (600).
"I don't mind any of those options. I really want a water friend to accompany us though...I think that'll help us on our trip immensely. As far as after that...we can search for a thunderstone."

The two of you end up checking out the river to the north in search of water pokemon for Thompson to befriend. The river is fairly calm and the whole area has a very idyllic feel to it, with kids fishing on the side of the river and a group heading towards the hedge maze with a picnic basket in hand. You wander the banks of the river for a while and eventually encounter a group of pokemon chilling out on the edge of the riverbank. They seem fairly happy but give up the vibe that they are up for a friendly battle. The group consists of one slowpoke, along with several polywag, and a lone abra.

Armo strays around from the Slowpoke and Abra. "I would not do well with the Psychics, yes? However, the Poliwag... one of those, I would not mind pursuing." The musician readies his Croagunk, waiting for Thompson's blessing to act.
