Shannon grabs Growlithe's ball letting him out. After apprising him of the situation he takes a few sniffs of the pokeball and gives Shannon an 'I'm ready' look.
After giving the pokeball back to Misty, Shannon says Alright Misty, Cecil and I will get the job done and we'll be of now, and turns and starts walking towards the door.
Once a bit away, Shannon says to Cecil, Alright, first I guess we need to find out what 'the hedges' are, then since we already stacked up supplies for the mountain we should be good to head straight out. What do you think?

If they were going to do this, better to be sooner than later. If somebody was hurt, who knows how much longer they could hold out?
"I'm ready anytime you are," Cecil answered. "Let's head out and see what we can find."

You both head out and after a bit of asking around find out that the hedge refers to a large hedge maze situated north of town. It is not hard to find, and you enter into the maze. After turning the first corner, and no longer being able to see the outside the of the maze, the hedge becomes eerily quite, the sounds from outside seeming to be muted. Even the sound of your own feet and breathing seems much further away than normal. Growlith follows the scent of the Starmie through the maze until you reach a section of the hedge maze in which part of the hedge has been burned, and something has crushed through the maze. You find the starmie, lying up against the side of the hedge, its center jewel cracked, with a large amount of jeweled powder lying on the ground. In addition to the either injured or dead starmie, you see several spatters of blood and some tatters of clothing.

Balian, keep your eyes and ears peeled for anything, Shannon says as she rushes to the Starmie's side.
She starts collecting the jeweled powder and putting it back into the cracks in the Starmie and asks Cecil, So what's the game plan? See what we can do to help the Starmie and then follow the damage? Do you know anything about fixing injuries and stuff? We have to do something to help.
Shannon is afraid that they have already failed, that the starmie and the others might me dead. They had to keep going and help, but what if it was too late?

(I am extremely sorry again; combination of being really busy and being overly tired when I'm not. If I do disappear like that again - which hopefully won't happen, as theoretically my life will start getting less busy in a couple weeks - I don't mind if you find a way to continue on temporarily without me or something. It's not really fair to make you keep waiting.)
The grisly scene made Cecil feel sick. His mind started to imagine all of the horrible ways this might have happened, but none of them made him feel any better. He took a deep breath; he knew he had to be strong and keep going, if only for Shannon's sake.
"I really wish I did know something about dealing with injuries, but I'm afraid I don't. We need to get this Starmie some help before anything else, I think. If we had a way of either getting some help here or getting Starmie back to town, that would be best, but I can't think of any way we can accomplish that. Unless you have any ideas, let's carry it back to town and then come back out here." Although it made him quite uncomfortable, Cecil picked up one of the tattered cloths that lay on the ground. "Hopefully, we will be able to use this to lead us to its owner. I can only hope they can hold out until we get there, whoever they are."

(hey man its just life, and you have real life going on. no worries.)
Ok, game plan, Cecil, I'm going to make a stretcher out of branches and vines. This Starmie looks pretty heavy and we will be able to get it to the pokecenter much faster that way. I don't know anything else to do for it.
Having gotten most of the jeweled sand in that she could, Shannon stands up and releases Galahad, telling him to look for vines or long grass that can be used as rope, and then goes to look for branches herself.
While constructing the stretcher, Shannon asks Cecil So what do you thin happened? Have you seen anything like this before? It looks like we have gotten ourselves into something pretty dangerous.

Shannon manages to build a stretcher and you both carry the Starmie back into Cerulean. You take the pokemon to the pokecenter, and the nurses there rush it into the ER. After a bit of explaining, that it is not your pokemon and you did not let it get this hurt in battle, you guys get in touch with Misty. When she hears about the damage to her Starmie, she immediately leaves the gym and joins you guys. She seems fairly angry about the damage to her pokemon and thanks you guys for recovering it when you did. Then the three of you together make your way back to the location where the starmie had been hurt.

Whew, Misty seems to have a bit of a temper, Shannon thinks to herself while walking back out to the bloodied spot. Do I have the propensity for a temper like that as well? I don't think so, but what if I do? Better not ever get mad like that at anyone important. Cecil is the only friend I have in this place and a quick temper could get me in trouble.
Once at the spot Shannon gets her Growlithe out to get a scent if needed and says to Misty, Well, this is where we found your Starmie. And as you can see something bad went down. The next step in our plan was to follow the trail to find the scientist and those two trainers. I'm ready to follow it and see what we find.
She kneels down and gives Balian a scratch on the head What about you Bal, have you got the scent?
Shannon stands back up and says to her two companions I can ask the plants here what happened. I don't know what they will be able to tell us, but I can talk communicate with them. She looks at Cecil, and then at Misty, and then sheepishly looks down at the ground and finishes, I guess I should have mentioned that before. It could've been useful to know earlier.

Cecil had to admit he was surprised. She could talk to plants? If that was true, it was certainly impressive. She had already shown how she could talk to Grass Pokemon, and that had certainly come in handy. "Yes, I think that sounds like a good idea," he told her. "We don't want to waste too much time, since we have no idea what's happening to the people that were here, but at the same time, we don't want to stumble in blind. Will it take long to do?"

Shaking her head she replies, No, it shouldn't take that long, and runs over to a plant with a good view of the entire scene, happy that her friend didn't respond with revulsion at her unusual ability. At the plant she bends down to one knee and starts by introducing herself. Hi there. My name is Shannon. My friends and I are here to help the side that lost the battle that happened right here. The bigger person you see and I are the ones that carried the star shaped pokemon away if you don't recognize us. The star shaped pokemon likely came here with two other humans when it got hurt but might have been with three? Could you tell me as best you could what happened to those humans during the battle? Who hurt them so badely, pokemon by themselves or pokemon led by other humans?
After getting what other answer the plant could give her Shannon thanks it and then walks back over to her companions and explains what she knows. feat used to talk to plants (will need to read to know how much info you can give): Commune with Nature

The hedge plant that you spoke to replies in a voice that sounds to you to be low and gravely. "Battle took place short time ago. First two humans and a pokemon. Then an attack by another pokemon. The humans called out pokemon of their own to fight the attacker. One of their pokemon was felled, but the humans seemed to be winning. Then, from deeper within myself came a swarm of smaller pokemon. They attacked without warning, dragging away both the humans and the original attacking pokemon. The star shaped pokemon fought long and hard and defeated many, but eventually numbers prevailed and the star pokemon was defeated. The swarm left and ran in deeper."
