Quint Welch

Born in Liacara, Quint grew up with his two parents on a silk farm. Gasien, his caterpie, was given to him at a very early age, and they were inseperable. As he grew, Quint had many many opportunities to catch more pokemon, but didn't. He didn't find a need to have anything else. Gasien was very well trained, and without being evolved could fight well on it's own. This planted the seeds early in his life to become an Artisan. He'd turn Gasien into a masterpiece of a pokemon, and he'd need no others to take on the trainers of the world.
As the war machine churned later in Quint's life, the call for raw materials like his families silk grew. Quint's parents were happy to start this, but the demand was too high. They needed more silk pokemon to keep up with this demand, and they wanted Gasien to help. Not wanted to give up his friend, and growing distant from his parents with their 'at least we make profit' view on the war; Quint ran from home, in search of the refugee ships, hoping to stay away from the war.
He had to travel quite a ways on his own to make it to a ship, and along the way, he came across a small purple monkey under attack by quite a few flying pokemon. Quint and Gasien defeat the group very handily, and the Aipom swears it's life to Quint, but it seems like a more timid pokemon that doesn't like combat. Quint explains that Gasien is undergoing training to become a powerhouse of a pokemon on it's own, and Quint doesn't really need another combatant. So Quint asks the Aipom if he'd like to join him as his assistant on his journey, and that he'd only use him in combat if really needed. The Aipom happily accepts the job, and joins Quint as Asys.
By the time they reach the docks, Asys now knows Gasien's and Quint's preferences on most things (Like food and drink, normal schedule) in order to assist them better, has aquired a pencil and a pad of paper for notes, and even a pair of glasses and a tie to look better the part. Where Asys found these things, Quint never figured out.
