"Do you need to go to the pokemon center?" Roofie asks, as they approach the building.

"Well, its got free room and board for trainers, so I figured we'd crash there, but if you know of another free place to sleep I would be fine with that I guess."

Roofie shakes his head. "No, that sounds alright."

The two of you walk to the pokemon center. The Nurse Joy nods at you sleepily as you enter and directs you to sleeping places. Lea crashes instantly.

Roofie waits until he can be sure Lea is asleep, and checks himself over. He will sleep once he's sure nothing's wrong.

There are a couple of minor scrapes from wandering through the cave and some strangely blue sections of skin around the place where the bat pokemon attacked you back in vermillion. All in all though nothing seems that wrong with you, so you head to bed and sleep. You awake to the sound of Lea screaming, "Damn!" before muttering beginning to mutter further profanities.

Roofie sits up. He runs to Lea and tries to shake her awake.

She is already awake and staring at an empty pokeball. Her face is twisted in hate. It takes her a second to register you when you rush over to her. When she does her expresion changes from hate to sadness and she begins to cry. Still muttering, you hear her say something more to the effect of, "Damn that kid."

"What happened?" He asks, "Is something wrong?"

Lea looks at you for a long moment. She sighs and then talks. "Back in my home village, we have a tradition. When we are old enought to catch our first pokemon we are sent out on our own to hunt one down and catch it with our own two hands. You're first pokemon is one with which you will have a special bond, so it is expected that you will stalk your intended pokemon for at least a day, observing it and making sure it is the sort of pokemon you want to spend your life with. The day arrived that I was allowed to catch pokemon and I went out in search of a partner. After three days of wandering the wilderness I came across a pokemon that was exactly what I was looking for. I watched it and hunted for another full day, and at last I decided the time was ready. I set a trap and jumped the pokemon. It was tougher than I imagined however and ran. I chased it on foot for about a half an hour. It had managed to pull ahead a bit but was loosing stamina when it jumped out of some bushes and across a stream. I saw it there and knew that the pokemon would be mine. Just before I too lept from the bushes, this kid comes out of nowhere and catches my pokemon. I demand its return but he ignores me completely and walks away with what was rightfully my own. I would have taken it back right then, but he already had some pokemon and I was exausted from my days of trekking. I then resolved to take my pokemon back and followed the kid to where he was staying. I waited till he was asleep and tried to free the pokemon he had captured but he had hidden it away somewhere. I wanted to continue my attempts, but there is a time limit on the capture ritual and I needed to be back with a pokemon before the day was up. I returned to my village with another pokemon equally as wonderful, but I never forgot the kid who stole my first one. I was surprised when I saw the kid on the boat ride over and was ready to reclaim my pokemon. I managed to take the pokeballs on his belt and because of that I felt I needed to get out of town quickly. I had not thought to make sure the balls contained pokemon until now, assuming that I had taken him off guard. Apparently he was ready for me and tricked me however as these pokeballs are empty. The thief has stolen my pokemon from me again."

Roofie does nothing but stare for a while. "That was... unexpected." He says at last. "I don't think..." He shakes himself. It's too early for this. "I'm not sure..." He rocks back on his heels, and bites his lip. "Alright." He nods. "You're telling me this because you want help, right? I don't, or rather, I'm not exactly the best person to help you with this. I mean, I'll help. But only if you can't find anyone else. I mean, really can't find anyone else." He eyes Lea, then looks back at his bed. "But it's late, and I'm still tired. Or at least, I think I am. So lets, I don't know, do this in the morning or something?"

Lea looks a little hurt for a second, but the look is soon replaced by resolve. "I told you, because I trust you. I don't want or need anyones help to get back what is mine, but I felt that I owed it to you to let you know what was happening after our trip through the caves yesterday. Also, I think you might want to check a clock. Its almost 11am. I woke up and checked my pokeballs then. I guess we were up till 6 so its understandable, but we should probably be heading out. If you would rather we go our seperate ways after hearing my story that's fine. Otherwise, lets get some breakfast."

Roofie nodds at last. "Let's go then." He picks his things up, slings them over his shoulders, and heads out the door.

The two of you have a pretty decent breakfast. After talking to the Nurse Joy on duty it seems there are a few places of note in the city. There is a Gym, a Museum, a Pokemart, a Square Dancing Hall and a Gem Shop. There is also a residential district.

"Would you like to wander around the residential district for a while?" Roofie asks. He can't help but squirm a little as he says it. He hasn't quite known what to say to Lea since this morning. Even looking at her caused an uncomfortable squirming in his chest, forcing him to look away. Roofie thought it might be embarrassment.
