Greetings everyone. It was wonderful playing with all of you, but this is the end of the campaign. I'll have a couple of paragraphs about what happens in the world in the three months after the game ends and then a paragraph about each trainer that was here at the end. There are still three trainers who have not finished the game, and I will be adding there epilogues when they do so, and I hope that if I find time, I might do an epilogue for everyone who participated in the game, even if they did not play all the way to the end. For now however, here is what I have:
There were several important conflicts that occurred near the end of the campaign. I'll provide a brief summery of each of them and then talk about how they all effected the world.
The Bug War:
Basically Viridian Forest turned evil and started attacking the surrounding towns. The bugs were all controlled by the bug hive mind which had ascended to godhood and was using its powers to turn the insects of the forest into a massive army with the goal of destroying all non-insect life on the planet. The Forest promotes some of its insect underlings into little demi-god eldritch abomination type things and these guys led its forces. They were largely immortal and special tools had to be used to kill them. In the end the center of the forest was defeated by a strike team that attacked it while the armies of man and pokemon that did not want the world to end distracted it by waging war. The Forests hive mind was disrupted and the hive mind lost most of its power. In addition to this main big battle in the middle of the forest, the war had many other fronts. The only one that involved PCs was the Pewter front, where Shannon and Chuck were able to disrupt the demi-god generals power and break the control over the insect forces. Meanwhile Jin and his friend Camomile cloned the pokemon Mew and it flew over the battle and managed to turn the now confused bugs to the path of peace. The bugs that lived returned to the forest, and Mew continued to spread peace over the bugs even as there main commander was defeated. Without Mews intervention many more lives may have been lost when rampaging hordes of uncontrolled bugs terrorized random towns and villages. As it was, the war had high casualties, but much lower than it might have. Politically the war had a few key repercussions. One was that a ghost god who had taken over Lavender Town conquered some of the land in Viridian Forest and gave it over to some of his ghost underlings. Another was that Gym Leader Giovanni distinguished himself as an excellent leader and an incredible warrior, seen as the face of the war. He gained much popularity and praise and there is a lot of talk about him moving into the elite four or helping with the Saffron Conflict. The three months after the war ended have been times of reconstruction. Pallet Town and Pewter were badly damaged, and Viridian City was completely leveled. All three towns are rebuilding, and the various militaries that helped with the conflict have been moving back across Kanto towards where they originated from. The forest itself was badly damaged, and the pokemon that lived in it are dealing with both an influx of new insect types that had been called in for the war, and deep guilt from an understanding that though none of the insects really controlled there own actions, it was a hive mind made of their collective will that caused all of slaughter.
The Celedon Rout:
Several teams of PCs, as well as the police were instrumental in taking out a rocket base that was discovered to be experimenting on pokemon and causing the rise in mutant pokemon that had been seen around Celedon. While a lot of the research that the rockets had been doing was recovered and used to reverse the effects, several experiments had been removed from the base during the confusion of the take-over. In addition, the head researcher was absent at the time of the attack and thus escaped being captured. The long term effect on Celedon is a decrease in mutant pokemon, and a general retreat from Celedon by Rocket Forces. Only a small number remain active in Celedon. This leaves a power vacuum in the city for a new team of organized criminals, but for now Erica and a few people she has recruited, including a team of strangely connected Drowzee are keeping the streets of Celedon Safe. The biggest and most dangerous of the Mutant Pokemon, a Raticate the size of a two story building seems to have disappeared in the confusion, and no one knows where the creature has gone.
The Saffron Situation:
Team Rocket decided to take over Saffron City. They attacked in great number and with a lot of organization. Most of the city was captured easily and the populace was fairly accepting of the new regime, as the old one had been corrupt and dangerous. The only part of the city that was not successfully captured was the northern most tip of the city which was defended by a gang led by an incredibly charismatic formal-martial artist. The groups determination, knowledge of the streets and alleys and aggressive recruiting scheme let the numerically less powerful gang to be able to hold up against the rockets for a solid month. At the end of that time, with political pressure on Team Rocket to end the violence, the city was broken in two, with the gang controlling the northernmost section of town, and Team Rocket controlling the rest. Currently there is no restriction on moving between the two areas, but frequent swapping often causes one to be seen as a traitor and an increasing number of lynchings and beating have been occurring near the border between the two sections of town. The rocket controlled section of town is on the whole a much safer and more stable place than it was before the rockets arrived, and a lot of Saffron is thankful for there arrival. Still many don't like the rockets methods and even now groups aim to depose the new regime. Meanwhile, the norther part of the city is in bad shape. The month of constant warfare turned the place into rubble and ruin, and there is not easy access to electricity or human medicine. Groups are trying to help, but the gang that runs the area is wary of rocket spies, and said groups are not able to help as much as they want to. Still, there is hope in that section of town, the people feeling that they really stuck up for there city and kept it as there own. Additionally, the Fighting Dojo, located in the northermost extreme of the town was neutral territory during the conflict and served as a haven for those who lost their homes and loved ones in the fighting. It still exists as a neutral space, and almost seems to be its own, third section of the city even though it technically resides in gang controlled territory. At the moment this is the state of the city, but there is talk that Giovanni, who distinguished himself in the war with the bugs, might be heading to Saffron to try and solve the situation and heal the split in the city. If anyone can drive the rockets out and calm the gangs down, Giovanni is the man for the job.
The South Sea:
Few know what really went on in the oceans around Kanto during this time of turbulence, but there is talk of mighty battles and undersea palaces, meetings of legendaries and slayers of gods. It is said that a little girl with a book managed to beat back swarms of bugs that might have turned the tide of the bug war, and that a young swordsman struck down a god who had planned to consume the world and replace it with its own created creatures. The only real authority about the situation is Elite Four member Lorelie, who was present at the events, and for now she is keeping her mouth shut about the situation.
Player Epilogues:
Zashi:
After having slain the Manaphy that had caused so much death, Zashi headed to Saffron where he had heard of a fighting dojo. He discovers the place to be more dangerous than he had anticipated, with Team Rocket and gangs fighting in the streets. He finds the dojo and works with the master there for a few weeks helping to defend the places where innocents live from the chaos. Once the situation cools off he speaks with the dojo master about starting his own practice. The dojo master, having worked with him for a while at this point agrees to support him, and gives him a little money to help get something set up. Zashi heads south, passing through the woods between Saffron and Vermillion. There he meets once again the bug master Samuel, returned from the war against the insects of Viridian Forest. The two talk of a Kakuna that had traveled with Zashi in the first few days of his travels. As it turned out, that Kakuna had fought valiently in the war against the Forest, but had died in the conflict. Zashi is saddened by the news and spends a long night with the Bug Master speaking of the Kakuna. As it turns out the Kakuna had left a son, a Weedle that wished to learn to fight in his fathers honor. While it would not be able to fight as Zashi did until it became a Beedrill the child joins Zashi as he heads a little further south to Vermillion City where Zashi uses the money he was given by the Dojo Master to set up a small Dojo of his own. He called the place, "Kakuna Katana" in honor of his fallen friend and soon had several committed students, including a young child that Zashi had met in his first days in Kanto. Currently Zashi is still working on getting his dojo going strong, but plans on going on another journey soon, in hopes of finding information about his now mystical sword and adding new pokemon to his team. For now Zashi is a good mentor to several girls and boys as well as a young weedle.
Terii Oos:
With her quest to help save Kanto from bugs, ghosts and weird water-born Surskit complete, Suicune takes Terii back to Johto and the Ruins of Alph. Her friend Ordena arrives with her as well, and the two of them wish the legendary beasts a good life. Goodbyes said Suicune and Entei head off to whatever new quest those two had to help with. Terii and Ordena decide that they both want to get back to there normal life for a bit, but plan on taking a tour of Johto together in a few months. The two spend a few days hanging out then Ordena heads out in search of new stories and songs. Terii stays at the Ruins, hoping to make her runic companions a bit more explicit in there history. Time passes and research occurs and a few months later Terii has learned a lot about the creatures, though there is still a lot to learn. She has set herself up with a little house on the outskirts of the Ruins and with her new discoveries many scholars and explorers visit to speak with her. She always makes sure to keep a little time for herself however, and the ability to jump to an alternate Unknown dimension helps a lot with that. Currently Terii is researching the ancient language that is supposed to predate the Unknown themselves, but has found evidence that somehow it too was based on the Unknown even though it existed first. Her research and her Unknown companions keep Terii busy, while her impending trip with Ordena keeps her from getting to focused. Meanwhile Suicune drops by every once in a while. Rarely for more than a few seconds, but it is always refreshing and nice to see the majestic creature.
Cassandra Spence:
Having helped in defeating the creatures threatening the Tentacruel and having proven herself to Elite Four member Lorelie, Cassandra decides to try and put her life together a bit. Lorelie lends her a little money and introduces her to the right people and soon enough Cassandra has a small boat of her own. She spends several weeks getting the hang of sailing the vessel and exploring the waters around Celedon. Eventually she starts doing some fishing and occasionally taking people on rides on the boat. A few more weeks of this leads Cassandra to a fairly enjoyable and lucrative job, where she takes aspiring trainers out on her boat and shows them the best spot to catch water pokemon. She provides the boat and the rods and they capture water pokemon they would otherwise not have access to. After doing this for a while she feels pretty solid and calls up Lorelie. On the weekends Lorelie takes Cassandra with her on missions, or trains her when there is nothing important going on, while on the weekdays Cassandra sails her boat, sometimes for pleasure and sometimes for buisness. With training from Lorelie and a steady income from her boat business Cassandra is not sure exactly what she wants to do with her life yet, but feels like she is equipped to head out in any direction the winds might take her.
Mike Rowbe:
With the information that he acquired in the Rocket Base, Mike is able to help Erika and the police solve some of the problems that Celedon is having with mutant pokemon. He spends several days doing this, and then heads out, planning to take Kate back to Fuschia, but planning to take the scenic route in order to do a few things on the way. The pair heads east to Saffron where Mike is troubled to find Team Rocket running the city. The situation seems delicate however and Mike decides not to upset the balance by doing anything rash. They move through the area quickly, heading south towards Vermillion. In the forests around the city Mike meets up with Samuel the Bug Master and introduces him to Kate. The three spend a long night talking about places where a new swarm might fit into Kanto, and Samuel gives Mike a few good ideas. The next day, Mike and Kate head through Vermillion, then east to the big bridge and south to Fuschia. The city is still recovering from some major battles that happened right after the pair left, but the gym seems to be mostly intact. Kate reunites with her family and friends, and Mike talks to Koga about the all of the adventures he has had, and the possibility of setting up a swarm nearby. While the Venonat Spynet already exists there, it rarely makes contact with humans, and a group of bugs that can act as a liaison between the Venonat, the bugs of the Safari Zone, and the humans of Fuschia seems perfect. After a few days of R & R at the Fuschia gym Mike heads out into the woods to see what he can do about recruiting. He speaks with the Venonat and some of the bugs of the Safari Zone and he gets some positive response. A few months of hard work later and Mike has a respectable Horde up and running. Its still young and small and the political situation in the area is difficult, but Mike feels confident he can expand, and his close proximity to Kate is not all that negative either. Mike plans to go on another journey in a few months in order to meet with other hordes around Kanto, but for now he is focusing on his own Horde and keeping it strong and growing.
Kage Dorobo:
The mission for the Celedon Rocket Don complete, and a large sum of cash in his pocket, Kage is left with the task of fixing his reputation one way or another. With his ally Victini at his side and the advice of the tough but kind fence, Isolde, Kage thinks about the best way to bring the populace to his side even if the law is not his friend. He takes a few days to lay low and make sure all his men are paid and find out the rocket situation in Celedon after the destruction of one of their main bases, but after that he gets back to work. He hopes to get a reputation of a sort of modern day robin hood, and starts things out by donating significant chunks of his ill gotten gains to the pokemon center effort to fix the many mutant mons of Celedon City. A few more key donations get the population thinking of him as a good guy, and give him enough positive feelings that he feels comfortable pulling off a few more heists around town. His confidence is high because of his ally Victini's ability to get him out of some pretty tight jams and his first heist after the bank is especially large. He and a Meowth he had met on his journey team up with the hacker Kalli and the con-woman Anne in order to rob the richest man in town of his prize possession, a jewel that is supposed to have been born of the love between Latios and Latias, the Soul Dew. The heist is successful and the jewel stolen, but the man he stole it from takes it personally. He hires a detective, renowned the world over as the best, in order to track down and capture Kage. Time passes and both the heists and the charity donations continue, but the detective seems to get closer and closer to catching Kage with each week. As this happens Victini begins to drop hints that he joined up with Kage for some important reason. His future unsure, Kage lives in the moment, enjoying his job and his companions, sure that if nothing else, things are not about to get boring.
Shannon Madison:
Helping to keep Pewter safe and defeating the general of the Pewter invasion bugs made Shannon feel happy and fulfilled. She cut her ties with the strange Master of the Hedge that she had allied herself with, and traveled south with Chuck to visit Prof. Oak. When they reached the area they found Pallet Town to be also recovering from the battle with the bugs. They stay for a few days, speaking with Oak about both the battle and just about pokemon in general and help with some of the reconstruction. Once that is complete Shannon and Chuck decide to head in different directions, but plan to keep in touch. Shannon heads back to Pewter, helps with reconstruction there for a bit, and then takes a trip across the mountains to check up on her friend Cecil who she had left there. Though he had not been able to travel the entire road with her, she remembered he had wanted to live in a quiet place and she felt he would be good company, as she had gotten along with him well when they had travelled together. When she arrived in Cerulean, she found him living on the outskirts of town with the boy that the pair had met at the beginning of their journey, under the bridge in Vermillion. They had agreed to find the kid someone to adopt him and Cecil had decided to do the deed himself. With nothing especially tying them to Cerulean, Cecil and the kid agree to travel across the mountain and help Shannon build her cabin. The three of them befriend many of the local pokemon and start an unconventional, but close-nit and caring family. Brock and Chuck visit occasionally visit along with some of the kids from Pewter, but for the most part the trio is undisturbed as they live a peaceful life in the woods east of Pewter.
Chuck Sarph:
The battle against the Pewter invasion bugs won, Chuck heads south with Shannon in order to meet the famous Pokemon Professor Samuel Oak. When the pair arrives the town of pallet is in bad shape after the war and they stay with the professor, learning from him and talking about the war, as well as helping out with the reconstruction. Eventually both Chuck and Shannon have to move on however, and the pair split up, each heading a different direction. Chucks quest to explore the world and catch every type of pokemon leads him all around Kanto, starting with Cinnibar Island and then to almost every town, hill and mountain in Kanto. Along the way Chuck meets many new pokemon and sees many a wondrous sight. When he ends up in Pewter again he finds that his friend Shannon has set up shop there and after that, makes sure to stop by and visit every now and again. Months pass and more of the world is explored and eventually Chuck decides its time to move on to a new continent. With thoughts of new discovery and new pokemon in his head Chuck decides to head to the native land of his dinosaur pal, and boards a boat for the Kalos region, ready to see whats around the next turn of the path.
Frank Scale:
Having helped protect the baby pokemon of the daycare center in Saffron, Frank will spend the next few weeks helping around the apartment, and then helping to set up the shop again when the rocket situation has cooled off a bit. He makes sure to visit the dojo master and keep up to date on the situation in Saffron, but when the fighting dies down and it seems like things are somewhat stable, he says goodbye to his friends in Saffron and heads toward Celedon in hopes of capturing the enormous Raticate that he had seen there. When he arrives he finds out that the Raticate dissapeared around the same time that Team Rocket was driven out of Celedon and has not been heard from since. Still, there are other mutant pokemon problems in Celedon and Frank spends a few weeks helping out with that. With that done he decides to head back to Saffron in order to be more in contact with the Contest world and to work at the daycare in order to save up some money for a daycare of his own. A few months have passed and Frank is well on his way. He participates in the local contests, visits other towns to try and talk about them and works at the daycare saving up money. Seline occasionaly swings by Saffron and she stops by for a contest or some dinner when she does. All in all, life is going well for Frank and he feels that a lot of paths are open to him.
Marco Flynn:
Even with the baby pokemon moved safely into their owners apartment, Saffron is still a dangerous place. Marco helps with the pokemon and does his best to keep them safe from the violence in the streets outside. He works with the Dojo master and helps do some of the work that results in a much calmer and safer Saffron City. When Frank leaves Saffron Marco decides it is about time to try new things as well and heads north to learn from the daycare man that lives there. He spends several idyllic weeks learning from the wizened old man and eventually works out a deal with him that will leave the old mans enormous daycare in his hands when the old man passes away. Currently Marco is working at the old mans daycare most of the time, but taking occasional trips around Kanto, learning about the local pokemon and bringing back new pokemon to raise at the daycare. On one such trip he met a cute lass from Johto and they hit it off. She stops by the daycare a lot these days, along with her Clefairy. All in all Marco enjoys his life, though it is perhaps a bit slow compared to the excitement of his first days in Kanto. He spends his days raising pokemon and helping them and that is good enough for the time being.
Jin:
With Pewter city safe, and pressure coming down on Camomile to reveal what she knows about the Mew cloning process, Jin and Camomile leave town in a bit of a hurry, taking with them the data required to clone Mew completely. They head to Saffron where Camomiles job with the rockets had been assigned and they chalk up the reports of a fully cloned Mew as rumor, hiding the fact that Camomile knows more than the rockets gave her from them. Parts of Saffron are still fairly dangerous at this point, so Jin has his hands full keeping Camomile safe and doing what he can to help the people of Saffron stay safe and protected. For about a month the pair live and work in Saffron fairly uneventfully, but then Camomile's sister swings by and convinces the two of them to skip town and take the science on the road and away from the rockets. The duo becomes a trio and they travel Kanto for a while speaking to various scientific experts in secret, in order to spread the advances that Team Rocket has made in secret. Eventually Camomile's sister goes to far and she has to split off to do her own thing again. Camomile manages to get a bit of a working relationship going with the rockets again, being more of a contractor and less of an employee. She and Jin continue to travel, this time with less focus on the secrecy. The pair decide to focus on Jin for a while and they take a tour of some of the fighting dojo's and gyms in Kanto, with both Jin and Camomile learning a lot. They never really get a chance to talk with Mew again after it flew away over the Viridian forest, but they do see it every now and again for brief moments and it seems to be watching over the pair as they explore and work and play together across the many routes and roads of Kanto.
Alyssa Pryde:
The battle with the rockets complete, Alyssa exits the base, but not after searching for info on the strange Pichu that she had encountered. She finds files about the creature and brings them to the pokemon center where she had dropped the creature off. The nurses say that this will help out immensely. The better hospitals are in Saffron and that's were the Pichu was sent, so Alyssa heads east towards Saffron. When she gets there she finds the place crawling with Team Rocket members, and ends up joining up with a gang that is trying to break the city free from the Rockets. She plays a key part in several important battles with the rockets and manages to help in getting the northern part of the city removed from rocket control. After having lived in a constant state of war with the rockets for several months, it is strange for Alyssa to walk the other parts of the city, where rockets patrol down every street and are welcomed and greeted as friends by the populace. Still, she has to check up on the Pichu. She finds the appropriate hospital, and finds the creature doing great. It is still glassy and different, but it health problems are cleared up and the creature is much more comfortable around people. With the strange little Pichu on her shoulder Alyssa decides to head out and see what else is in Kanto, with no plan and no real direction. She is once again exploring a new world.
Quint Welch:
Quint follows Alexis back to Vermillion city to get help for Alexis's electrified bird. The process turns out to be a long and brutal one, but the pair stick it out, helping the bird recover and gain strength. During the time that they spend together Quint finds out that Alexis plans to return to the home country and the war, and this difference of opinions ends with some not so nice goodbyes when Alexis sneaks off to return home. Quint spends a few more weeks training at the gym and then challenges it with his butterfree. He does fairly well, though doesn't quite manage to get the badge. He heads out to check out other gyms and challenge them, hoping to make a name for himself with his solo Pokemon team. After three months of trial and tribulation and a total of 12 gym challenges Quint acquires his first gym badge on Cinnibar Island. He is currently relaxing there, his pokemon recovering from some pretty bad burns incurred in the battle, and looking forward to continuing to challenge more and more gyms in the future.
Alexis Samson:
Along with Quint, Alexis says goodbye to the police and the other trainers that had helped in the battle against the rockets and makes the trek back to Vermillion to bring the drugs and the Fearow back to Lt. Surge so the Fearow can be prevented from hurting itself. They make quick time there, but find out that unfortunately Surge is off on a Mission in Saffron trying to get Team Rocket out of the city. Fortunately the man was not alone in his knowledge of electric pokemon, and others at the gym are able to help the Fearow, administering the drugs and growing the appropriate electricity dampening organs. She and Quint spend about a month in total in Vermillion going through physical therapy and getting the Fearow back to a functional state. Lt. Surge returns during this time and Alexis discusses with him her wish to return to her home country and assist with the war. Surge agrees to help out and calls on some of his old army buddies to sneak her aboard an Unovan Peacekeeping force ship. She hides out and then runs out into the countryside when she arrives back home. Unfortunately for her, the peacekeeping force ended up landing on the wrong side of the war, and Alexis finds herself deep in enemy territory. She makes a few raids and does a fair amount of damage. Unfortunately, even with the experience she gained in Kanto, one woman can't handle and entire army and she is captured and taken to a concentration camp. She spends about a month there sick and weak, but eventually manages to break out with some other soldiers and escape back into friendly territory. Currently Alexis is still recovering from her stay there, but she hopes to be up and helping in a few weeks time.
Vera Hampton:
After finishing up in the Rocket Base, Vera heads over to the Game Corner to try and participate in that nights show. Unfortunately when she arrives she finds that the Game Corner has closed down for some reason. She meets a few other actors and coordinators that are pretty annoyed at this and they decide to do some impromptu shows on the streets. She heads over to the police station and gets a bunch of folks to do a bit of a reenactment of the battle against the rockets. The next day she starts thinking that with all of these actors and coordinators out of work it might be just the right time to try and get something started of her own in Celedon. She spends a week talking to various people, and everyone together is able to pool enough money to buy a smallish building downtown. They get ready and then begin to put on shows. Its rough for a while, with few customers and drama between different members of the crew, but time passes and the place gets bigger. They are able to expand the building and start putting on some local contests. Its hard work, and Vera ends up having to do more of the bureaucratic stuff than she had wanted and has less time to act and perform than she hoped, but when a performance goes well and she sees the audience cheering its all worth it. A few months into this, her friend from home, Sasha arrives on another refugee boat. With her help, some of the burden of running the place is lifted from Vera's shoulders and the future looks bright as more and more people show up to the performances and contests that Vera and her crew put together.
Lee, Mileva and Ivan: With the combee threat to Celedon dealt with, the three make plans to mitigate the damage that is being done to Saffron City by the conflict between the Rockets and the Gang. Lee continues to work with the Rockets, being put in charge of some of the propaganda during reconstruction. He also sends info to his two allies about plans for Rocket attacks on the North Side when he can, which allows Ivan and Mileva to sneak in and get people out or warn people of impending attacks in order to keep the citizens safe even in the war-torn northern sector of town. With their help, more and more stories and people get out of the north and this eventually lead to the peace treaty signed between the Gang and Team Rocket that turns the northernmost part of Saffron into its own city. With the main goal complete, Ivan decides to head off and work on growing his hive, but stays in contact with the other two as much as possible. Currently he is travelling the mountains to the north of Saffron, looking for a good home. Meanwhile Lee continues to work within the Rockets, enjoying his propaganda work and the chance to make a difference in policy. His work is assisted by Mileva who continues to work as something of a spy after the peace treaty, keeping an eye on tensions in the city, and leading a group of like minded individuals in monitoring both Rocket and Gang activity and trying to keep the citizens informed and aware of the groups that run their city. None of the jobs are easy, and everyone feels that the city is recovering, but still tense, and the differences between the Rockets, the Gang and the common citizen of Saffron are growing, and might just boil over at some point. For now however, both are content to wait, watch and do what they can.
