Well, guess this is where we start if we're new. Anyways, Hi Everyone, Staruniva signing in here. I was directed here by a good buddy of mine (Jarulso) and since I've been anxiously waiting on getting into another Pokemon Tabletop United session, I decided I'll start here. Below is my Google Drive link to the character I wish to use here, and there are a few things which I would like clarified if possible during this stage. The first and most important would be if the Jailbreaker Class from the [Do Porygon Dream of Mareep] expansion is fine to use. If not, do not bother to continue reading from the end of this sentence. Next up on the agenda would have to be the starting money. Since my character is focused on money matters, it would be a problem if he was to start with a low amount. Next would be the availability of Apricorns. Since the campaign is probably set in the Kanto region, I need a bit of an understanding of whether Apricorns will appear or not. If the answer to this question is there is little to no Apricorns, I'll need to concern myself whether my character is able to start with a Portable Grower, or at least able to obtain one in his journey. I believe I've covered all the relevant areas now, so without further adieu, here's Kevin Irados (description I'll sort out at another date, since it shouldn't matter that much yet). docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ati3Na8uLWQjdG9ESWNZRUZEVW41Q1ZEeDM3NXdPaXc&usp=sharing

I'm no mod - just as new a player as you - so I can't answer your other questions, but as far as character creation guidelines go, the pertinent info can be found here.

Thanks for clarifying that man. Really appreciate it. ^^ My only concern is if our characters have to originate from a war-torn country, or if they could just originate from any other region. The way my character is set up makes it really hard to change the backstory.

Jailbreaker is cool. Apricorns will be find-able in various wilderness locations, as well as being purchasable in some locations. As far as backstory, it would be perfectly reasonable for their to exist an apricorn crafter in Kaliastr or Liacara who you might have learned from. Possibly even an apprentice or friend of Kurts. You might have heard of Kurt then and have something of a goal to find and learn from him at some point.

That's reasonable for me. Going off the fact that Apricorn Ball crafting is very old, its more reasonable that Kevin comes from Liacara. After a bit of reconsideration, I've also changed which skills were lowered from Kevin's background to better fall in line with his experience.

You get to start out with two pokemon, but I'm only seeing the Zubat on your sheet. Have you put on another one?
Just something I noticed. I hope it helps out.

I just finished all the updates now. My second Pokemon is a Slakoth (nicknamed Iccadia [Latin for Sloth]).

Currently you only have 2 edges and 2 features. You should have one more of each.

I would love to, but what I need (Basic Balls) requires Level 2. Jailbreaker requires Basic Balls as a prerequisite, and that in turn requires Adept Edu: Technology. If I don't need to spend all my Features and Edges in character creation, I would like to hold off on them for Level 2. Plus, I don't think there's much else I could take. :\
Yeah I just looked through the General stuff again, and there's only one other thing I can take, but its for a Ranger-oriented class. So yeah, I've got nothing worth taking until Level 2.
Edit: Just added a Character Description for Kevin now, and have been considering adding 1-2 of each Apricorn to his Inventory, if allowed.

I'm afraid the game is not balanced for storing up features and edges. Basically you have to spend all edge and feature points you get at level one on level one features and edges. It is not fair for one person to have 3 level 1 powers and 1 level 3, while another person has 2 level 1 powers and 2 level 3. Keep in mind however that you get a free edge at level 2, 6 and 12 in addition to the normal edge at every even level, so you will be able to take adept skills(technology) and basic balls both at level 2 instead of having to wait till level 4 for basic balls. Anyways, if you have edges to burn, increasing skill levels is never a bad choice, and with the huge number of generic features and classes, there has to be at least one more feature worth taking.

Guess you're right, I can try and think of something to take.
First up though, changing my character's background to raise Acrobatics but lower Command (It did say up to 3, and I only did 2, so there shouldn't be a problem here). By doing this, I now have the chance to take the Quick Switch Feature and the Novice Guile Edge (doing this to open pathways to either Capture Specialist or Juggler). I hope that should fix any other flaws in my character.

Yeah, for the most part that looks good. Only problem is that your sheet says you still have 5000 even after the pokeballs and pokeball making kit. Just decrease your money appropriately and then you can start posting. Post in "Getting Off the Boat" in the Celedon City board as soon as you are ready.

I wasn't sure whether I needed to increase/decrease starting money by the items, so left it at normal. Thanks for clearing that up as well. ^^

Since its gonna be too much of a hassle to post all this in the chat, I'm sticking the relevant changes I plan to make to Kevin when I've got the retraining prerequisites. Changes planned: - Rearranging stats to a 13/5/6/5/6/11 distribution: 3 Trainer EXP
- Retraining Quick Switch into Instruction to better follow character backstory: 2 Trainer EXP
- Retraining Novice Skills (Guile) into Novice Skills (Perception): 1 Trainer EXP
Currently, I'm unable to perform any of these since retraining is not allowed to force you down a Level, and as such I have to wait for any Trainer EXP Kevin is due (unless Micah is willing to allow me to do so without paying Trainer EXP). For more information on retraining, look at Page 37 in the 1.03 Hand Book.

I've given a bunch of people the option to do a bit of retraining during the initial stages of their character, so feel free to make the changes you specified for no cost.
